Natural park Cap de Creus, Girona, Catalonia
The Cabo de Creus peninsula is located in the most eastern part of the Iberian peninsula and, also at the Mediterranean end of the Pyrenees. It is situated in the L'Alt Empordà county of Girona and forms part of the municipalities of Cadaqués, El Port de la Selva, La Selva de Mar, Llançà, Vilajuïga, Pau, Palau-saverdera and Roses.
Extraordinary landscape stands out, as well as the exceptional beauty of the coast which contrasts with the inland scenery. It is a first-class natural area, gifted with an unusual geological configuration, with features that form a whole that is unique in the world. It is also the first maritime-land natural park in Catalonia.

Parc Aiguamolls
Located in Roses township we find these 4.000ha of Marshland with interesting plant and animal life; a place of refuge for migrating birds. Situated 10km from Roses, between Empuriabrava and St. Pere Pescador we fibd the information office for these marshes, also a departure point for various routes to reach the observatorys.

Sierra Albera Between the French border and the Alt Empordà plain, is the location of this area, where places of ecological interest converge such as: beech and oak woods; the reservoir of Joquera; Requesens Castle, the Albera tortoise reproduction centre in Garriguella and the megalithic and romanesque monuments. |
Castelló Empuries
A medieval village 9km from Roses. Places to visit: Gothic cathedral of Sta. Maria 14th century, The Parochial Museum, The Counts Palace, today the Town Hall; the Sta. Clara convent (11th century), the Farinera Museum, The Medieval jail (14th century), The old House (14th century); The Gallarda Door (11th-12th century) and the large Empuriabrava marine port (with an important network of navigable canals). |

Figueres
18km de Roses. Places to visit: The capital of the Alt Empordà region and an important commercial centre. Places to visit: La Rambla (the main street runs trought the centre of the city), the Dalí Museum; the Toy Museum; the Empordà Museum; the parish church of St. Pere (14th century) and the Saint Ferran castle (a military fortress). |
Peralada
15km from Roses. Places to visit: Romanesque cloister of Saint Domènec (12th century) and the Peralada Castle Museum containing the Library, the convent of Carme, the church and the Gothic cloister, the wine Museum and the Castle of Peralada, nowadays an important casino. Every summer the International Music Festival takes place here. |
Vilabertran
18 km from Roses. Situated between Peralada and Figueres, we find this small village with the monastic settlement of Sta. Maria, containing magnificient architectural features of Romanesque and Gothic, Catalan style. |

Pere de Rodes
Located 20km from Roses. This Benedictine monastery, Romanesque style from the 11th century is situated on top of the Port de la Selva mountain with a breath taking view over the Bay of Roses. |
Cadaqués
Situated 20km from Roses. A picturesque marine village. Places to visit: The Salvador Dalí House Museum (Portlligat), Pierrot-Moore Museum, Municipal Art Museum and Sta. Maria Church with a magnificient 18th century baroque altarpiede. |
Ruins of Empúries
30km from Roses. Situated beside the sea we find these fascinating archaeological ruins (575BC). Places to visit: the site of the Greek colony of Emporiom and of the Roman city of Emporiae, the medieval village of St. Martí d´Empúries and the Monographic museum. |
